Aaah, now Old Colorado City, which borders on Manitou Springs, is a charming, ye olde world part of town which survived the Gold Rush, oil boom and wagon trains - yet still looks good. (wish we could say the same after a long night).
Louts and ladies alike entertained themselves on these streets over 100 years ago, but these days, instead of the swinging saloon doors and hidden brothels, you will amble along the side walks finding independent cafes, restaurants, galleries, boutiques and specialty shops.
The Historic buildings along Colorado Avenue between 21st/31st Streets provide the perfect ambiance for a daytime stroll or night on the town, and the small cottages offer cozy dwellings. Many of the old homes has been salvaged and brought up to code in order to maintain the historic look and many business have been set up in them.
