(If the video hesitates, allow the feint red line to get ahead of the dark red line) Looking to buy a home in Pueblo - then start here. Pueblo is one of the fastest growing cities in the USA. Downtown Pueblo has a wealth of Victorian and Territorial architectural buildings and is going through a renaissance and renewal. Many of its old office buildings and warehouses are being refurbished and being turned into townhomes, lofts and new office spaces.
Located beside the Arkansas River in southeastern Colorado, 110 miles south of Denver and about 45 minutes from Colorado Springs is Pueblo home of the State Fair and national heroes.
A little history for you - Pueblo currently holds the countrys highest number of Medal of Honor recipients per capita. Pueblo survived a major flood in 1921 and is coming back strong to produce steel, and earned the nickname "steel city." This area is now home to a number of electronics and aviation companies. The Colorado State University will have a football team come fall of 2008. The states largest single event, the Colorado State Fair. is due to be held between Aug. 22 - Sept. 1, 2008. Mid-August to Labor Day is the time of the State Fair. This is one of the larger State Fairs in America with a full range of exhibits, demonstrations, carnival rides, rodeo and agricultural competitions, and evening concerts by big-name entertainers
Constructed during World War II, the Pueblo Depot Activity facility was built to serve as an ammunition and material storage and shipping center. During the late 1950s Pueblo became a major Army missile repair and maintenance facility. The facility operated at nearly full capacity during the Vietnam era. Pueblo´s primary mission in the 1990s became the storage of chemical munitions. The site, located about 14 miles east of Pueblo, Colorado, has been safely storing chemical weapons since the 1950s
House prices are significantly lower in Pueblo than in Colorado Springs and the weather pattern tends to be much hotter in the summer and milder in the winter, although the winter of 2006 brought a few surprises with record snow falls for the area. Pueblo West is growing in popularity with large lots and large homes and plenty of lots for sale. The only motor vehicle race track near Colorado Springs is also in Pueblo.
Pueblo works hard to keep up its appearance and it is more than likely you will find, among the landscaped, historic streets and quaint shops - more than just a few heroes.
