17 miles north of Colorado Springs is a small community called Tri-lakes and spans both the west and east side of the I-25. If you are looking for rural living with plenty of 2 to 5 acres lots allowing horses, then this is the place to be. Scenic landscapes and a friendly atmosphere greet you when you enter the Tri-Lakes region of Colorado Springs. Tri-lakes embraces several flourishing communities which are located along the northern edge of El Paso County. The area which was once known for its potatoes has grown into a booming business center with medical facilities, reputable schools, endless cultural and recreational activities.
Easy access to Denver and Colorado Springs via Interstate 25, it's mountain living at a high 7,000 feet elevation. Semi-custom and custom homes, as well as treed properties, large barns, property with meadows or both are a common site. A mix of older and newer homes cohabitate very nicely together.
Named for its 3 lakes and made up of three communities - Monument, Palmer Lake and Woodmoor - with more than 10,000 people residing here it is a successful mix of upscale and affordable. It is said to have great schools, the small-town ambiance, prime recreation and of course, shops, making it a comfortable area to live in and despite its continuous population growth Tri-Lakes continues to live by a small-town philosophy.
The area gets a little colder than in Colorado Springs because of the altitude and the closeness to the Palmer divide, getting more snowfall in the winter months. On the west side of the interstate, those who want to keep animals such as horses or large dogs, have some space to roam and to go fishing in Monument lake.
Northwest of Monument is a small town called Palmer Lake with some great restaurants and beautiful homes. Palmer Lake has several walking trails and art museums as well as several restaurants
The Tri-lakes area is tucked between Pike National Forest and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Lake Woodmoor, Monument Lake, Palmer Lake and various other area parks provide you with opportunities for boating, fishing, biking, hiking, and horseback riding. It also has four golf courses that blend into the surrounding landscape.

The U.S. Air Force Academy which is located five miles south of the Tri-Lakes area, has thousands of visitors every year - of particular fame is the stunning Cadet Chapel. What is so interesting is that this Chapel has separate chapel rooms for Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish faiths as well as two all-faith worship rooms. It is made of aluminum, glass and steel and has 17 spires rising 150 feet above the ground.
Our students in the Tri-Lakes area attend schools in the Lewis-Palmer School District, which has been recognized for its outstanding scores.
