Considered to be home to the United States Air Force Academy Northgate is a close-knit community located approximately 10 miles north of Colorado Springs with a 15-minute drive to the downtown area of Colorado Springs.    Of course, like most suburbs in Colorado Springs it also offers the basic services - shops, local eateries etc - but the real reason for wanting to live in this part of town, for most people, is the school.   It is not uncommon to see trainees zoom through the clouds almost daily. Some of the most impressive architecture and most strenuous nature trails can be found on the schools campus.   At almost the halfway point between Colorado Springs and Monument, Northgate has become popular with people who want a quieter lifestyle but have the benefits of living in a large city.

Northgate is sometimes also known as Gleneagle and has a number of cultural and recreational opportunities.   The club house at Gleneagle Golf Course, which is an 18-hole, 72-par course offers a swimming pool and clubhouse for members.   It is a semi-private club

The Northgate area offers larger lots with many homes being independent properties and some being part of a master-planned residential community.

One private neighborhood that offers residents new homes is the Flying Horse community and a clubhouse with fitness facilities and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf.
