What a quaint, old fashioned little town where the buildings go back 100 years or more and you can tell!!.  Looking for Art, Crafts, Musicians and the like?  Then Manitou Springs is the place to be.  This progressive arts community is named after the Native American word for "spirit."  Apparently regarded by its first inhabitants as sacred ground, Manitou Springs grew to be something of a destination - a history of healing and well-being, with healing waters and reported  black magic and its spa's -  in the 1800s.

The nine natural mineral springs that flow through the city may have something to do with the devotion to art, social responsibility and an easy going spirit.

The homes tend to be victorian in look and built accordingly so don't expect to be able to rebuild Rome at your inspection.  It has it's own, little known castle which is also a bed and breakfast.  It is the start of the Pikes Peak Marathon and the equally  well known  Pikes Peak International Hill climb which occurs around 4th July every year.

This ancient little town is where the old mingles with the new and there is so much more to it then is mentioned here from coffin races, to cake throwing competitions, jazz festivals...
