Commonly know as the three well manicured triplets - Security, Widefield and Fountain - provide homes for many military personnel. Close to Colorado Springs airport, Peterson AFB, Schriever Air Force base and of course Fort Carson it is approximately 15 miles outside of Colorado Springs, and you have the three communities known as Fountain Valley. It has a small-town charm with big-city opportunities.
Security has become the hub for retail - Widefield has always been and still is mainly residential - and Fountain, which was named "Millennium City" by the New York Times in 1999 for its missile, is an accurate representation of America's melting pot - so as you can see, all three have distinctive characteristics.
Fountain Valley hosts annual events - the Fountain Fall Festival which is held in September and the Tree Light Ceremony which is held in November every year. There is also the annual Blast Dance Street Festival commemorating a train explosion that occurred in May 1888.
With a reported population of more than 44,000 people, a variety of national retail stores have moved into this region, although the community still supports it's many independent and family-owned businesses
