The United States Olympic Committee
One of America's premier sports organizations, the US Olympic Committee is headquartered here in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is recognized by the international Olympic committee as the sole entity in the United States whose mission it is to involve training, entering and underwriting the full expenses for the U.S. teams in the Olympics as well as the Paralympics, Pan American and Parapan American games.
In addition the US Olympic committee is the moving force in supporting sports in the United states that are on the program of the Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American and Parapan American Games.
It also oversees the process by which the United States cities seek to be elected as a candidate to host the summer or winter Olympic/Paralympic or the Pan American games.
The Olympic Committee also approves the US trial sites for the Olympic, paralympic and Pan American games team selections.
The US Olympic committee mission statement is "to support the United States Olympic and Paralympic athletes in achieving sustained competitive excellence and preserve the Olympic ideals and thereby inspire all Americans"
